Midget submarines like the Triton-1 and Triton-2 are designed for special covert transport missions, as well as planting of mines and explosive devices. In addition, small subs of the Triton class are ideal for covert delivering and evacuation of combat frogmen and their equipment, as well as of special operations forces.
One distinct advantage of midget subs is their portability; they can be transported on larger vehicles to their destinations quite handily. A stationary air regeneration system provides oxygen for the inhabitants (generally two). Midget subs of this type are usually powered by electric motors. Midget subs are outfitted with electronic navigation equipment.
