MIG-29 is one of the best jet fighters of the fourth generation. It is a single fighter executed according to the integrated aerodynamic circuit with smooth interface of a low-sited wing and a fuselage, giving the increased carried properties, with two carried engines and twin-finned vertical plumage. Aluminum-lithium alloys are used in a design. Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic is widely applied which was used for the surfaces of control. Mechanization of the wing includes automatically controlled maneuverable slats on all length of scope and flaps. Aerodynamics of the plane is improved by installation of plates - generators of whirlwinds on a bar PVD.
In 1972 tactic-technical requirements on a new fighter intended for a seizure of the air superiority on tactical depth were given to the OKB of A.I.Mikojan. In 1982 the fighter was added to the armory of the Soviet Air Forces. The new machine had a number of the unique features making it a terrible weapon. The radar station allows to find out the air purposes in long distances including low-flying purposes which was impossible by the planes of old generation. Except for radar-tracking system (RTS) the plane is equipped by a heat direction finder and a laser range finder connected to it so that it allows to attack the purpose in a mode of radio silence. Arms of the plane are various missiles of a class "air - air" (up to 7) and a rapid-fire gun GS-301 of caliber 30 mm.
The cabin is equipped with system of display of the information on a background of windshield, and also helmet system of target destination. It allows the pilot to make acquisition of the target by the heads of missiles instantly, only having looked at the target. On the handle of the control there is a button instantly transferring the plane in a condition status of horizontal flight with a zero roll at loss of orientation by a pilot. The ejected armchair K-36 allows the pilot to leave the machine even at zero altitude in a critical situation. The system of speech indication ("Natasha" as pilots call it) warns of a dangerous mode of flight or threat on the part of the opponent, giving out by a female voice speech messages of such type: «too low landing approach ", or «the opponent is behind".
The plane has thrust-to-weight ratio more than a unit that is the draft of the engine exceeds the weight of the plane. It means, that with working engine the fighter can “stand on a tail”, and even climb higher with acceleration. Flight characteristics of the plane MIG-29 shook many western pilots piloting it and spectators of numerous space exhibitions where demonstration flights were carried out. Except for Russia, planes MIG - 29UB are in the armies of the countries CIS, and also Cuba, Czechia, Germany, India, Iran, Iraq, KNDR, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, Syria, Slovakia, Yugoslavia, Hungary and Bulgaria.
In structure of the Iraq Air Forces some planes of this type were used during operations in the area of Persian Gulf in January - February, 1991. On characteristics of a maneuverability, dispersal and rate of climb the plane MIG-29 surpasses all serial foreign fighters. The plane MIG-29 is equipped with the radar-tracking aim complex RTAC-29 including pulse-Doppler RTS HO - 93 (support up to 10 targets on pass and detection and support of the targets on a background of the ground, excess of the purposes is 13 kms, decrease is 6,5 kms, limiting angles of support of the targets: on a vertical is +60 '/-38 ', horizontal is +67'/-67 ').
